Alan Shearer’s hilarious selfie in response to fan’s dodgy tattoo of Newcastle hero

Alan Shearer posted a hilarious selfie after a fan’s disastrous tattoo tribute.

The unknown member of the Toon army sent the image of the Geordie legend to BBC’s Match of the Day.

But it bore so little resemblance to the man himself that fans suggested it might be TV star Les Dennis.

Shearer responded with a hilarious selfie adding: “I don’t know what your point is? I think it looks just like me….”

Twitter user seanreddo said: “Sure it’s not Iain Dowie.” Another added: “Looks more like Les Dennis.”

Hferrisday raised the question: “What’s worse, this or the Ronaldo statue?,” a reference to the infamous bust of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo unveiled at Madeira airport last year. It was later replaced.

IanThom told Shearer, 48: “Makes you look like Sloth from the Goonies.” Other stars who have suffered a similar fate include Brazil forward Neymar, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and their former manager Rafael Benitez.

The history of Newcastle United fans and tattoos is a long and unhappy one. Robert Nesbitt famously got a thigh-sized image of their then star striker Andy Cole drawn on his thigh back in 1995.

The ink was barely dry before Cole had signed a deal to join rivals Manchester United .
