Cristiano Ronaldo’s aspirations to be the undisputed No 1 footballer in the world are plain to see and now the Portuguese star can lay claim to the highest-paid sporting celebrity.
Forbes has released its annual list of the top 100 highest-paid entertainers with the Real Madrid and Portugal superstar sitting in fifth place.
Ronaldo has dropped one place from fourth in 2017 but iconic No 7’s earnings of £73.2million supersede his footballing contemporaries.

The forward’s income is heavily boosted by the contract extension he signed with Real last November.
The 32-year-old penned a £365,000-a-week deal at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2021. That wage totals a staggering salary of £19m per year post-tax.
In addition too, Ronaldo has a lifetime deal with Nike worth upward of £790m while his growing line of CR7 branded products now include showed, underwear, fragrance, jeans and a line of hotels.

Cleveland Cavaliers star James earned £67.8m – with his 2016-77 salary of £24.4m contributing to over a third of that.
James, who will face a must-win game at the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night, has an impressive list of endorsements that includes Nike, Coca-Cola and Beats by Dre.
