Dakota Johnson side-eyes Angelina Jolie as Jennifer Aniston takes to the stage at Golden Globes

Despite Aniston divorcing ex-husband Brad Pitt over 12 years ago, Johnson was clearly keen to see how Aniston and Jolie – who married Pitt after his split from the Friends actress – would cope with being in the same room.

Aniston joined Carol Brunett to present an award at the Beverly Hilton Hotel – and eagle-eyed fans captured the moment Johnson tried to subtly catch a glimpse of Jolie’s reaction.

Johnson was pictured taking a side-eyed glance at the Tomb Raider actress who averted her eyes from the stage.

But Jolie was forced to stand as the audience applauded Brunett with a standing ovation.

The picture quickly went viral with one user tweeting: “You’re lying if you can’t relate to Dakota staring at Angelina’s face for a reaction to Jennifer being on stage.”

Another posted: “Lol at Angelina Jolie participating in a standing ovation that’s half for Jennifer Aniston.”

US actor Armie Hammer’s wife Elizabeth Chambers was less subtle and appeared to look directly at Jolie.

Aniston and Jolie’s relationship was far from amicable for years after Pitt left Aniston for the Maleficent actress when they met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005. They went on to marry in 2014 before Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.

Pitt formally adopted Jolie’s two adopted children Maddox, 16, and Zahara, 13, after they had been together for two years.

The couple later adopted Pax, 14, and then had three biological children together – Shiloh, 11 and nine-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
