When Elkhorn’s Chelsie Morales found out she was pregnant, she decided to surprise her husband with the news.
Her plan definitely worked.
A photo that captured the animated expression of joy and surprise on the face of Will Morales has gone viral.
Chelsie Morales said she found out in mid-June she was pregnant. So she called her friend Kara Fishbaugh, a photographer in Omaha whom Morales has known since their days at Elkhorn High School.
Morales, 28, told her husband they had won a photo shoot through Instagram. Four days later the couple, who married three years ago, met Fishbaugh at Standing Bear Lake. Will Morales had never met Fishbaugh and didn’t know she and his wife were friends.
Fishbaugh told the couple to play a game. Each would write on a small chalkboard three words to describe the other, and then flash the board to the other person.
Will, 31, showed his first: beautiful, witty and smart.
Then it was his wife’s turn.
Her message is what sparked the big surprise: You’re going to be a daddy.
His jaw dropped, and his eyes sprung open wide.
“Oh, my gosh,” he said. “Are you serious?”
He gave her a big hug, lifting her off the ground.
The photographer captured the sweet moment. A Facebook post of the reveal has had 11,000 interactions, and it has appeared on the websites of the Huffington Post, ABC News, the “Today” show and others.
The couple’s first baby is due in February and the dad-to-be said he can’t wait.
