New York Islanders: Top 5 Twitter Personalities 2017-2018
New York Islanders Power Play Should Improve in 2017-2018
New York Islanders forward Shane Prince joined the NHL Network to talk about his charity work, but he also sang the praises of Head Coach Doug Weight.
One thing was pretty clear when Doug Weight took over the New York Islanders, the players loved playing for him. The spark was certainly noticeable as the team nearly played from bottom-feeder in the Eastern Conference to a playoff team. Unfortunately, they fell just short of that goal.
Shane Prince, who spent an extended period of 2016-2017 injured joined the NHL Network to talk about his charity work and time with the Islanders.
First off, hats off to Prince, any athlete who goes above and beyond for their community is okay in my book and Shane certainly does just that. His charity work looks like a lot of fun actually! A tournament of beach hockey sounds like a blast!
Anyway, towards the end of the interview, they switched gears and asked Prince about Doug Weight. Prince, like many, sung the praises of his new head coach.
Prince brings up Doug’s competitiveness and also cites his time spent as an NHL player as one of the reasons for his early success as a head coach.
“He’s been through it, he knows what it takes to win, he knows what it takes to succeed as a player.”
Dougie’s proved his initial doubters (me included) wrong so far. Let’s see how he fares in his first full season behind the bench.
