Beatles fans were doing a double take on Tuesday when a rare selfie between the sons of John Lennon and Paul McCartney was shared online.
Bearing a striking resemblance to their famous fathers, Sean Ono Lennon, 42, and James McCartney, 40, brought back all kinds of nostalgia for music lovers as they sat side-by-side playing guitar.
The photo hinted that the much-admired friendship between the two Beatles singers lives on through their offspring, and even sparked hope that a musical collaboration was in the works.

Simply captioned ‘Peekaboo,’ the surprise selfie – shared by Sean on Instagram – sparked a new wave of Beatles mania with fans pointing out the obvious resemblance.
Some commented: ‘Wow, y’all look exactly like your dads’ and ‘It’s fun to see Lennon & McCartney again. Best wishes to you both!’
While others were begging for new music, writing: ‘This made my day!!! So love that the Lennon and McCartney families are still tied. Wishing you both all the best. We all would love to hear some music 🎶 from you-no pressure lol.’
Sean has indeed followed in his father’s footsteps, establishing himself in the US as a singer and songwriter.

Notably, the photo indicated that he has also taken inspiration from Lennon’s rockstar image with wild hair and spectacles.
Meanwhile, James – the only son of Paul and his late wife Linda – bore a natural resemblance to a young McCartney with strikingly similar features.
McCartney previously described his friendship with Lennon as ‘irreplaceable,’ citing their connection through music and in growing up together in the band.
