We were excited to meet North Dakota Supreme Court Justice Lisa McEvers, who came to be the celebrity judge. She met and talked with each of the girls during dinner and asked what everyone wants to be when we grow up. Some of the girls even want to be lawyers and judges, like Justice McEvers. All the girls loved getting a “Justice Lisa McEvers” patch! It was really neat that she played “Taps” during the flag ceremony. And it was fun to have a real judge come and judge our skits. The award for best skit on the camp’s theme, “Gone Wild,” went to Park Ranger Erica, who brought a live hawk to show all the Girl Scouts how it was weighed, measured and banded before they let it fly off into the trees.
We are grateful that Girl Scouts provides us with such wonderful opportunities to learn. We hope lots of other girls join Girl Scouts, too.
