Major League Baseball’s 2017 All-Star week brings excitement in Miami

MIAMI, Fla. – The 2017 Major League Baseball All-Star game is Tuesday night, but fans of the Miami-based game will first get to enjoy the Home Run Derby and the entertainment of the celebrity softball game beforehand.

Featuring big names such as Miami Marlin outfielder Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge, the 32nd Home Run Derby will kick-off Monday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Following the battle of the bombs, Jamie Fox, Miles Teller and Ivan Rodriguez will be just some of the players featured in this year’s Celebrity Softball game. A tradition since 2001, the game featuring a mix of Major League Baseball legends and current celebrities will air on ESPN at 10 p.m. on Monday immediately following the Home Run Derby.

Then comes the 2017 All-Star game that, up until now, has determined home-field advantage for the World Series. Starting at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, stars from the American and National league will team up for a new prize: a $20,000 bonus.

With the new MLBPA Labor Agreement in effect, the World Series home-field advantage will now be determined by the team with the higher winning percentage.

With the American League holding a 13-3-1 record dating back to 2000, the game airing on Fox will feature big names such as American Leaguers Justin Smoak, Aaron Judge, Mookie Betts, Chris Sale and Chris Archer.

For the National League, Daniel Murphy, Bryce Harper, Marcell Ozuna, Max Scherzer and Wade Davis look to lead the way for revenge.
