NFL legend Michael Irvin wants to be king of the celebrity MMA cage

Vitor Belfort is not the just man who dreams of an MMA league of legends. That’s also the expect former NFL wide receiver Michael Irvin has. Irvin is 51 years old and wrapped up his career with the Dallas Cowboys back in 1999, but he would love to carry on some fellow actors that dabble in mixed martial arts.

“I train MMA, I want to do it,” Irvin stated in a TMZ Sports interview (through Bloody Elbow). “I train occasionally over at the Guy Mezger fitness center. I would not mind having a struggle and getting in. Oh my god, I’d love to take a battle!”

“What I wish they would do is some amateur MMA fighting, celebrity style,” he explained. ” Let that celebrity go up against that celebrity, get in the ring, and let us do something. Let me find me a few of dudes that may have said something I do not like and we get up in that ring. Man, I’d whoop somebody up. I’d enjoy that.”

We have our doubts that the UFC would be curious (they did not enjoy Vitor Belfort’s variant of this idea ), but who knows … maybe Bellator could be interested in picking this up. Michael Irvin has the relations to make it happen, too. His older Cowboys teammate Herschel Walker fought for Scott Coker and went 2-0 back in the Strikeforce times of 2010.
