Winning trophies in football is, naturally, the pinnacle of any player’s career. Apart from the extortionate wages on offer, it’s why people kick a ball around the field for 90 minutes every three to seven days.

Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph over Juventus on Saturday, therefore, would undoubtedly have led to many of the club’s stars celebrating emphatically. And with good reason, seeing as they became the first side to retain the European Cup for 27 years.

Not all footballers celebrate as wildly as some of their teammates, but the ones that do go over the top and take the celebrations too far? Man, those are the ones that fans love to hear about. Which is why Roberto Carlos jokingly ratted out Marcelo to radio station Onda Cero for his antics after Real’s victory in the final.

Speaking about the left-back’s less-than-sober state, the Real Madrid legend revealed how Marcelo was left bamboozled by his fellow Los Blancos superstars all wearing the number 12 shirt that the Brazil international usually wears.

Carlos said: “Marcelo drunkenly came into the dressing room and asked why everyone was wearing his number 12.”

Someone had clearly forgotten it was Real’s 12th European Cup success. Which isn’t surprising, given his drunken state!
