A hilarious video shows the moment a drunk Scot climbed a cherry picker and serenaded police and onlookers.
The footage, which was filmed in Glasgow on Saturday night, captured the inebriated Scot singing Flower of Scotland and Justin Bieber ’s Love Yourself at least 20ft above unimpressed police and firefighters.
Craig Dunn, from Glasgow, captured the incident in Royal Exchange Square in the city centre, as the crowd cheered on the drunken reveller.
It appears the man managed to somehow climb up the elevated platform before taking his top off and swinging it around his head. At one point he blows kisses into the laughing crowd.
A second clip shows the cherry picker being lowered by firefighters and the topless man being taken away by police.
The man taunted cops as he began to strip off on top of the cherry picker
The clip has had over 161,000 views and 3,800 likes since it was posted to Facebook on Sunday.
Opinion of the man’s antics ranged from “legend” to “drunken fool” wasting the time of the emergency services.
The clip begins with the man, wearing a white shirt and appears to be holding a maroon jumper, already on the platform – behind the Gallery of Modern Art.
He dances, sings and claps his hands above his head as the laughing crowd looks on.
As the man swings his jumper around, the camera turns to a woman in red trousers on the ground dancing and swinging her shoes above her head.
The reveller tried to spark a singalong of Justin Bieber and Flower of Scotland
The crowd whistles and claps back, as police officers look on, and the man starts a rendition of Flower of Scotland.
At one point firefighters appear, and another man from the crowd appears to try and start an argument with the elevated man.
As someone in the crowd shouts “get your tap aff”, others in the crowd whistle and cheer.
A second clip shows the man, now topless, being lowered down by firefighters – as he continues to chant and clap at the crowd.
Police officers then cuff the man, which elicits both cheers and booing from onlookers.
The drunken rogue drew in a large crowd with his hilarious shenanigans
Craig Dunn uploaded the clip to Facebook with the caption: “The most Scottish thing you’ll ever see is this hero, who got wrecked and somehow climbed up a cherry picker outside Social in Glasgow and started singing to the polis. Both our phone batteries ran out, but he got naked and jailed at the end when the firemen managed to lower him down. Who wants to crowdfund this guy’s lawyer?”
Social media users were quick to react to the hilarious video.
Jamie O’Neill said: “Typical night out in glasgow.”
Lyndsay Gow commented: “Did this guy ask to be born a legend?”
While Karen Roca Gillan added: “Only in Glasgow!”
The man was eventually lowered by firefighters and led away by cops
However, others were less impressed.
Sharon Grant said: “What a waste of time resources for a drunken prank, the services have better things to do with there time, like helping people in real trouble.”
Christina Moore added: “A waste of the use of the emergency services. God forbid someone was seriously hurt or worse while you were being a drunken fool.”
In 2015, a Scot dressed as Santa had to be rescued from Glasgow’s Duke of Wellington statue in the Royal Exchange Square.
The man had to be rescued by a cherry picker to get him down from the statue, which has a long tradition of locals placing a traffic cone on the head of the Duke.
