Blake Griffin made it very clear that his on-court battle with Ben Simmons was personal after the Aussie NBA star dated his ex, Kendall Jenner.
Griffin and Jenner, a Victoria’s Secret supermodel, split up in May after Griffin was sensationally traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Detroit Pistons.
Simmons, a budding superstar with the Philadelphia 76ers, was seen getting cosy with Jenner – something that reportedly left Griffin heartbroken.
On Sunday, Griffin had the chance to exact some revenge.
While the Sixers beat the Pistons 109-99, Griffin clearly got the better of Simmons in their individual battle – which became pointedly physical at times and had tongues wagging in America.
Griffin’s insistence on backing Simmons down in the post was the highlight as the Pistons star posted a giant statline of 38 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Simmons had a solid but inferior output of nine points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Simmons has been active off the court since moving to the US, having also been romantically tied to singer Tinashe – who did not react well to news that he was dating Jenner.
US celeb media claimed Simmons was concerned that Tinashe was stalking him, even hiring extra security after she began turning up to the same LA parties as he and Jenner. Yet Tinashe denied those claims.
“The fact is, I was in love and I got hurt. I know I’m not the first nor will I be the last person to be in this situation. The details of what has happened since are complicated to say the least, but I’ve never lied. And of course I’m not a stalker lol,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
Simmons and Jenner supposedly split up but were seen hanging out together earlier this month, after a Sixers vs LA Clippers NBA game.
