Florida cops’ rescue of puppy from hot car goes viral

Law enforcement officers saving animals isn’t exactly big breaking news, but the tiny size of one helpless puppy helped make a Florida dog-rescue story go viral on Monday afternoon.

A Facebook post of deputies near Pensacola posing with a miniscule mutt they pulled from a hot car was shared more than 350 times within the first 24 hours.

The rescue happened on Saturday afternoon at the height of the hot midday in the Sears parking lot at University Town Plaza mall. The outside temperature was 92 degrees.

William Sparkman, 25, left the black-and-white puppy locked in a vehicle, where it was found “squealing, panting heavily, and in distress,” according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
