Lake Mary High School’s principal joined the school’s step team for its pep rally routine Friday night and then quickly became an internet sensation.
A video of Mickey Reynold’s performance, posted on Facebook by a Lake Mary alumna — and parent of current Lake Mary students — has been viewed more than 2 million times.
“That amazing moment when your PRINCIPAL jumps in on the step team’s performance and SMASHES it!!!” wrote Becky Godwin on Facebook Friday night.
Reynolds told ABC news she wasn’t sure her students would laugh or cheer when she joined the the team wearing the same outfits as the teenage performers. But they definitely cheered. She told Today.com she hoped her performance would help her connect with students at the school she took over this academic year.
Godwin wrote on Facebook on Monday, “Still in disbelief that my video has been shared & enjoyed as much as it has! So neat to be a very small part of something so big that has touched so many people! Our principal is a legend! I couldn’t be more proud to be a Lake Mary ram alumni and have current Lake Mary Rams!”
